One of my teachers....the main one who pretty much saved my life the year I was finally diagnosed....never ceases to amaze me. I still like to go back and visit him occasionally, and after 10 years, we are still in great contact. He knows how much I struggled in school. So when I sent him an email telling him about my book, and how Id like him to have a copy of it, his reply was this: We need to meet somewhere other than school so that the energy is a celebration of your success rather than a reminder of the anxiety associated with this building. Im practically in tears. In my heart, I know that one of the main reasons that my book exists is due to that school and the struggles I had in that school. He is right. The celebration of this book should be about where I am NOW, not the agony of where I came from. Even 10 years later, this teacher is STILL teaching me.
