One of our GI Rights counselors is very discouraged. He wrote this today: A combat injured soldiers unit is trying to ignore major medical issues in order to discharge him without the disability benefits he should be getting. I spent time a chunk of the afternoon on the phone with the soldier, the deputy commander of the hospital and staff at the surgeon generals office trying to get them to intervene. I am nervous because his time is running out. I am wondering if anyone else feels it is ironic that it is our often vilified, anti war organization that is working overtime to get people the benefits they were promised. The military that the people vilifying us claim we dont support has a sick way of thanking people for their service. Please support Quaker House as we try to help these service members.
