One of the best commanders I ever served under defines some of the traits of a good leader as being “one who has within him or her an ability to selectively show weakness, admit mistakes, seek advice and laugh at themselves”. He goes on to say ‘leaders who show these traits are perceived by their followers as being honest, authentic and trustworthy”.
