One of the best portraits I have read of “The Egyptians”. I wish it could be broadcast and shown in Egypt. In front of all the barbarism that is taking place in the Middle-East, Egypt and the egyptians or, better still, the alexandrians, (as I know them) are the embodiment of the description below. What a great honor it is to be Egyptian! Dont call me Muslim, ... my faith is not your business, plus my half-brother is Christian. Dont call me Arab, ... there were no Arabs when I was born. Dont call me African, ... I dont fit ... Im white. Dont call me a Man ... or a Woman, ... my culture doesnt know the difference. Dont call me Middle Eastern, ... I am middle nothing ... I am always first. Dont call me Great, ... I already know that. Dont call me rich, average, or poor, .... I have seen wealth come and go since eternity. Dont call me modern, backward, enlightened, closed, or open, .... I am multi-cultural by birth. Dont call me religious, conservative, liberal, or secular, .... I am all these things, and much more. Dont call me Pharaonic, .... my past lives inside me, but my eyes are on the future. If you have to label me ... if you must describe me, ... I am just simply ... proudly ... EGYPTIAN.
