One of the big piracy sites we deal with is practically begging its users for money in order to pay a $1000 server bill. Theyve gone as far as to start a fake fundraising campaign to rescue kittens as a front to raise money. So weve established that they are complete scumbags, but...they also really really suck at stealing. Why is it that the pro-piracy crowd espouses this economic advice about giving your product away for free when the people that engage in wholesale giving away of other peoples shit for free, cant make even the modest revenue required each month to keep their operation open? Is this more of that silicon valley we dont have to actually turn a profit mentality that is revered as so progressive while the dinosaur industry companies that actually protect their intellectual property *gasp* turn a profit?
