One of the biggest issues I see raised with the wearing of suits - TopicsExpress

One of the biggest issues I see raised with the wearing of suits regularly is the cost of cleaning suits versus the cost of cleaning jeans. So I did a little research... Im lucky. I only pay 3.50$ per load wash and dry in my building. I have gone to laundromats and lived in apartments where its between 5$ and 6$ per load. However... for a single load, every two weeks, that puts me at 91$ a year, currently . Dry cleaning... dry cleaning lessens the life of a suit and thus shouldnt be done on a regular basis. Spot cleaning, airing, steaming and general care are all important. I generally dry clean my heavy wear suits once a year, in the spring. Selecting the right dry cleaner is also important. I usually pay about 25$ a suit, on average, though I regularly pay less as I watch for specials, snip coupons and bring in my suits in bulk. A regular wash load of suits would be about 4 [eight pieces, pants and jackets] which amounts to about the usual single load of work uniforms for me. Thus its about 100$, or 10% more in cost compared to my expenditure in laundry with relatively inexpensive machines in my building. In other, unrelated news, I now have a repetitive strain injury in my right arm. Tennis elbow is a common term bantered about. Its from a simple task at work, I found... by doing the task and feeling my muscles scream in tearing agony. This slows everything down as I cant carry nor move as much in a handful as I could before the injury. Healing time? Im told a few months with resting the arm and possible physio. That will not be happening. And though Im left-handed and it doesnt bother my writing ability nor my wielding of a fork... it sure puts a cramp in date night.
