One of the biggest mistakes in judging is doing it ring side. This creates so many opportunities for bias when you consider their limited view of the ring, crowd noise and announcers. All three judges should see the same fight, from the same angle (Broadcast View), without sound and in a neutral on site location, under strict recorded supervision. Throw in more stringent testing and a stronger licensing renewal process(to get rid of old blind mice) and we can improve this process. We will never be able to make it perfect, but we can improve it.
