One of the chief faults of religion is that it gives people to - TopicsExpress

One of the chief faults of religion is that it gives people to passively pray for someone else to solve our problems instead of acting on them ourselves. It amounts to begging for magical solutions that have not very often appeared in thousands of years of such begging. After hundreds of years of pleading for supernatural relief we finally developed science that It offers whatever can be done by practical means. Science has not conquered death and likely never will, but dying with a prayer for eternal life on our lips is dying nonetheless. Facebook does the same. It is an outlet for political sentiments the need to express which is satisfied by a few minutes posting. No need to actually act: There, that problem is solved, I posted a clever turn of phrase about it along with a modified picture. Thanks but I already know that I am sinking more and more into disrepute by being infernally impolitic in every possible way. It might be a disease but it is incurable in me.
