One of the coolest people in my village is Hadja, an old woman who is the president of the womens cooperative in Djelibakoro. My counterpart Fofana & I are entering into a project with Hadja and her cooperative. Were building 10 solar dryers, so we can dry a ton of mangoes this mango season, and lots of other food year round, and up the FOOD SECURITY in my village! The project actually is pretty low-cost. One solar dryer costs about $20 to make. So heres my plea to all of yall- consider making a donation. Not out of guilt, not because Im asking...but only if you think itd be cool to make a connection on the other side of the world. Even if you dont want to donate Id encourage you to check out my post about it here (especially if youre on the fence, trying to decide if Im wasting your time or not): paxcorpsguinea.wordpress/2014/03/06/my-village-doing-big-things-solar-drying-initiative/ If you are ready to fork over your hard-earned savings, you can do so here, at the official Peace Corps website (100% tax deductible): https://donate.peacecorps.gov/index.cfm?shell=donate.contribute.projDetail&projdesc=14-675-008 For every dollar you donate, I will eat one mango.
