One of the great Christian ministers, voices,and songwriters (and perhaps the best entertainer in any genre) of our day stepped to the other side tonight. His every dream fulfilled. In my early days pioneering Contemporary Christian Radio, I played tons of his inspired songs. I remember going to see him and Sweet Comfort Band together in Memorial Hall in Kansas city about 1978 or 79. For me the reason to go was Sweet Comfort.....the opening act.....until Andre took the stage. Not only did he minister the gospel powerfully. He was one of the two or three live true entertainers Ive seen in my life. And that is saying something, because in 40 years of radio Ive seen nearly everybody in Christian and Country and pop/rock. That night in KC he grabbed an audience by the throat when he took the stage, stood them up and shook them and the house for 90 minutes and never let go. From roaring with Aint Gonna Jump No Pews, to touching hearts softly with The Blood That Will Never Lose Its Power, he made an indelible impression for Jesus. If Heaven Were Never Promised To Me it would be worth it, but Soon And Very Soon We Are Going to join him To See The King.
