One of the greatest one/two guitar punches in Rock was Sam Andrews and James Gurley of Big Brother and the Holding Company. James past back in 2009 from a heart attack, and now Sam has had one to (December 2014). The latest reports having him doing well after open heart surgery, but never hurts to send good thoughts his way. Sam also has one of the best quotes in rock history when asked about the Psychedelic era in music which he was a major part of. The psychedelic era started when someone looked at the Beatniks and said, Im not going to wear black anymore. Im not going to be depressed and drink myself to death. Im not going to look at my navel, Im going to look at this beautiful world. And the world is going to be in color too, gorgeous color. IMHO acid and pot helped too, but I digress. So for Guitar Wednesday a little love for the guys in the band Sam Andrews and James Gurley. Have a great GW everyone and send those good thoughts to Sam!
