One of the guys that works for me had a friend commit suicide this past weekend...and it got me thinking about the subject. Ive had an ex do the same and Ive contemplated the same on a couple of occasions. Its so hard to accept and as hard to explain. I can tell you this...its not done from a selfish place. Its done from a fear that is so overwhelming that it consumes every thought. It is a horrible place to be. It is unthinkable to share and it is not something you can understand how to prevent. When someone arrives at that place, they are the only ones that will ever make the decision not to follow through. It is courageous, sad, difficult, impossible, unthinkable, horrifying, and lonely. There are so many things that bring us to that point. So many of us judge the people that do that, but I cant. I empathize with them. I understand the hopelessness that they feel and I hope we all see the signs, take the time and interject ourselves in their lives to tell them how important they are to us. To tell them how our world will forever be diminished without them in our lives. Take the time to love your friends. Take the time to tell them how much you love them. Most of all, take the time to recognize how much you mean to your friends and family. We all struggle. Some more than others. We all love, we all disparage. We all judge. Take the time to love, the love we share trumps the rest. Take the time to recognize it.
