One of the major heartbreaks of yesterday’s swearing in - TopicsExpress

One of the major heartbreaks of yesterday’s swearing in ceremony was the fact that Smriti Irani was sworn in as the cabinet minister. And now she is the forerunner for the chair of the HRD Minister. BJP could have done better. I mean come on, Smriti Irani is a 12th Pass, and she is no intellectual. And if this is not enough, I have more facts. Smriti was also a waitress and cleaner in McDonalds. What the hell did you do BJP? I have seen updates like these doing rounds of the internet since morning. That’s the problem with the elitists of India. They judge people and they judge a lot, their only judgment criteria being the person’s academic qualifications. The elitists were equally unhappy when a chai-wallah from Gujarat was projected as the Prime Minister candidate by the ‘Bhartiya Janata Party’. Now of course they have started hailing him as a statesman. Elitists were happy under an overqualified underachiever like Dr. Manmohan Singh. And isn’t it justified? A graduate from an elite university deserves a well-qualified leader. These waiters and chai-wallahs cannot handle intellectuals like them. I am not sure how many elitists have watched Mrs. Irani’s interviews or listened to her speeches or her aggressive campaigning against Rahul Gandhi or noticed how gracefully she conducted herself when Priyanka was taking digs at her or how she aggressively threw Priyanka’s secretary out of the polling booth or how she has been a women’s rights activist and how she rendered the intellectual iconic Hindi Journalist Rahul Kanwal completely paralyzed on his own show. How many? And there is a difference between Vidya and Buddhi. Vidya is academic brilliance acquired through learning while Buddhi is knowledge gained from involvement and experience. The Vidwaans take a copy book approach to solving problems, The buddhimans are creative, they are not blinded or bounded by theories and thumb rules. They are risk takers. They push the nation forward. And do remember Gates, Jobs and Dell all were college dropouts. Let us look at the previous cabinet, count the number of Intellectuals they had and rate their performance: AK Antony – BA, LLB from Kerala University, completely failed as the defence minister of India P Chidambram – Noted economist, did MBA from Harvard Business School. Led India to its slowest growth era in recent times SM Krishna – Law degree from Washington University, performance as the External Affairs Minister – Horrendous Kapil Sibal – MA, LLB from St. Stephens college, University of Delhi. Imposed 66(A) and crippled the entire educational system of India Salman Khurshid – The Oxford Grad, failed completely in diplomacy as the External affairs minister And of course Manmohan Singh – The noted scholar and economist failed completely as the Prime Minister of the nation And Kejriwal, the much advertised IITan, his score card has all zeroes. Judge people on their performance fellows, not on their qualification!
