One of the many things that made me smile (and cry) at Stellas - TopicsExpress

One of the many things that made me smile (and cry) at Stellas memorial was the homage to her parents. It was said - many times these past two weeks - that they didnt grieve for an non-disabled baby. They loved her and wanted her from when they saw her. And they just got on with living the best life they could. (Same for my parents - that I saw.) That sort of attitude is what I hope for all parents of children with disabilities. It pains me to see parents grieving over the life they believe theyve lost because their child is born differently to how they imagined. Ive got so much more to say about this, but I am too sad to risk putting my emotions into words. Stella - and many many others with disabilities - is proof that a disabled child is not a burden, and not a life lost to grieve over. Its a life worth living, and worth living fabulously.
