One of the more solid pieces of longform journalism written on pro surfing in awhile. Its not often that I learn something new about characters Ive been reading or even writing about for years. In this case, my Outside Magazine buddy Joe Spring has just enough of an insider - and outsiders perspective to ask the right questions and observe seemingly mundane details that turn out to be fraught with meaning.
