One of the most surprising things about our Indiegogo project is the great questions that come in. Here is one from today. Todays Question: Lindsay, did you ever feel like giving up? Ouch, thats a biggie. But the answer is yes. Of course. When you are in the beginning or middle phases of being sick it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. If youve been sick a long time, it can feel almost impossible. In the case of Lyme, you can feel a lot worse before you feel better. And in any case, typically chronic illness doesnt crop up overnight - it typically takes years to accumulate the stress and strain on the immune system that results in multi-system, multi-symptom chronic illness - so you cant expect to reverse it over night. Its important to keep a record of your hurdles and milestones - so when you are feeling at your wits end - you can look back and see how far you have come. I actually did have a day that I consider my rock bottom of illness. I was just so sick and tired of being sick and not having the energy to show up for my kids and my life. Plus, the emotional and financial strain of being sick were pushing me beyond my limits. I was done. Absolutely done. And it was in that moment that I decided that I would not spend another dollar, moment, or ounce of energy on my illness - without at least MATCHING it on something that felt like it built on my wellness. Something fun, or joyful or just separate from all that goes into managing your care or that of a sick loved one. And that truly was the moment that everything shifted for me. In that moment I found ways to build in more time for me - for the things I loved and that made me feel happy -even if they werent the same things that I could do and made me feel happy before I got sick. Pretty soon I wasnt just matching my efforts on treatment vs. fun - I was pulling out and away from the sick stuff - and the good stuff was taking root and taking over. It was amazing. I started a daily gratitude practice at that same time (now going on 1,160 days!) and finally saw my own light at the end of the tunnel. And I wanted that for everyone around me that was struggling also. So that was the beginning of Chronic Wellness Tools by Wisen. The turnaround wasnt easy - but it was definitely worth it. Thanks so much for the Shares and Contributions and questions. Please keep them coming, we are just over 30% of our goal but have a long way to go.
