One of the places we went to yesterday was called Ashleys Place. It is located in Gallatin. People, I had never heard of this place and I was blown away! When you walk in, its like a magic kingdom for children! This place and what they do literally brought chills all over! Not only do they council abused children, but they have a room for girls and a room for boys. These rooms have a two-way mirror. In the room for the child it looks so amazing and inviting for a boy or a girl. In the opposite room, dcs and the police can watch without the child even knowing and take whatever notes they need about the abuse. They are also recorded and the recordings are used in court so that the child never has to testify! This is in place so that the child is not interviewing in a police station with policemen they dont know and may be intimidated by. If you have time to volunteer or plan on donating anywhere this year, please consider Ashleys Place. I was so moved by the difference they must make for the broken children in our community! Love has to start somewhere, and I believe these girls found a way to make it happen!
