One of the reasons I love being a coder is that I get to read patient records. I admit it. I am fascinated by how someone you just knew starting out was one sick puppy and then they recovered. The follow ups are great. You see treatments working and because you know the clinicians you feel for them as well when someone does not get better. I worked in an ER and loved my time there. Even now all these years later my heart races when I think about it. I remember the ones that were lost and the amazing stories of ones who we should have and did not.
