One of the reasons it was important for a lot of us to see Paul at Texas 28 last night is that he is about to go on an extensive tour with Father John Misty, which will include dates in Canada and Europe. This means we probably wont see much of him performing in Bakersfield over the next year or so. The group performed last month on The Late Show (catching David Letterman just before his retirement). What I love about this is that you can see Pauls glasses right behind Father Johns head in the first minute. So many of Pauls friends are so proud of him, because he has devoted his life to getting opportunities like this. Those of us who have performed with him have known all along how lucky we have been that he has been willing to come back to his hometown to stay connected with us while keeping his foot in doors all over the music business down South. I have always said that my favorite thing about playing with Paul is that while his talents are immediately obvious to anybody watching a group performance, he is wholly dedicated to the total product, and as a result makes everyone around him better.
