One of the seven Libyan nationals admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Mater Dei Hospital suffering from serious injuries as a result of the war in Libya, has been found to be carrying multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii. However, Mater Dei Hospital clinical director Joseph Zarb Adami said that this is not the first time that patients admitted to the ITU carried the same bacteria in the past, and said that there is no cause for alarm.
