One of the things I learned in my social psychology class as an undergraduate is that the cold-warm dimension is one of the most prominent criteria we use in impression formation. I often wonder why some people come across as being cold, while some come across as warm. It is more than whether the person smiles a lot. It may also have something to do with whether the person is willing to embrace you or keeps you at a distance emotionally.
