One of the things we dont preach well is that ministry that looks fruitless is constantly happening in the Scriptures. We dont do conferences on that. And theres not too much out there on how you can toil away all your life and be unbelievably faithful to God and see little fruit this side of heaven. But God sees things differently. Dont get me wrong, Mega Churches can be awesome and have their place and purpose, too. Im just suspect of the idea that numeric growth and enthusiastic response are always signs of success. Frankly, they are not. Consider Isaiah or Jeremiah, in todays ministry circles theyed be considered utter failures. Mose didnt get to enter the promised land. John the Baptist didnt get to see the ministry of Jesus. On and on we could go. And yet God sees things differently. To Him, faithfulness is success; obedience is success. Remember, a hearers response is not your responsibility; your responsibility is to be faithful to Gods call and the message of the gospel.
