One of the worst feeling in the world is seeing somebody close to you facing a difficulty but being powerless to do anything. The situation is such that you arent even able to give practical advice which hasnt been tried already. You are speechless. You feel weak. You feel helpless. But then, this is the moment where you remember the words of Al-Mujeeb: “Call upon Me, and I will respond to you” [60:40]. This is when you stop putting your hopes in the creation and turn to the Creator. This then turns in to the moment where you sincerely pour your heart and your needs out to the only One capable of facilitating a way out. How wise were the words of Ibn Taymiyyah (RH) when he said: A calamity that makes you turn to Allah is better for you than a blessing which makes you forget the remembrance of Allah. Wallahi, sometimes when were faced with a difficulty, we tend to first look for a solution in everything except in turning to Allah. Yet, how Merciful is Allah that after weve exhausted all our options, He inclines our hearts to turn to Him. Not only turn to Him but to turn to Him sincerely. Why is this significant? Because by making dua, we are affirming 3 types of Tawheed: 1. Allahs Lordship. 2. Allahs Names and Attributes. 3. His right to be worshipped. What greater calamity could there be than neglecting our duties towards Allah? And what greater blessing could there be than Allah inclining our hearts towards Him? So, if youre reading this, I have a small request, a dear brother is facing a difficulty, I would really appreciate it if you took out 30 seconds to make dua for him and others in the ummah going through any sort of difficulty. May Allah (swt) allow us to be of those who find solace in dua during times of hardship. Ameen.
