One off my grandfathers fought in the trenches off France and was hospitalised three times with trench foot and other related illnesses ..my other grandfather was a fireman who was sent to London to fight the fires when the blitz was destroying London and was severely injured ..I also had an uncle who escaped from a pow camp in Germany and tragically died after standing on a mine after returning to the front ...These guys were all heroes to me and I appreciate and respect the pain and sacrifices they had to endure, and like any other decent person the world over I observe the minutes silence when we remember all the fallen ..... But I wonder how they would feel all these heroes ,all these young men who sacrificed so much when they see the start off the war being celebrated in all its not so glory this year ...I think they would be turning in their graves ...an old soldier said on the telly earlier when asked are you proud off what you done ..you must be proud ..he said no Im not proud ..then he just sat and stared for a minute and you just knew he was back there ..bloody heart breaking so it was ..wars hell and it shouldnt be used to gain political points in an election ...my opinion
