One piece of serendipity came when an astronaut put sugar, salt, and coffee powder into a Ziploc in micro-g. Electrostatic forces caused the grains to seek each other out. Electrostatic forces because it was a plastic bag? They think not, apparently. The model that has all these microparticles (too small for gravity-driven collision) wandering around until they accidentally bump into each other hard enough to stick--- Nay, apparently planetesimals form FAR easier and faster than that. The particles seek each other out like coed teens on an overnight field trip.
