One quality that made Elvis appear to be so striking was the extent to which his face was composed of ideal geometric shapes, and straight, parallel lines. This photo with Tom Jones exhibits some of those qualities --- especially the repetition of parallel lines. Notice that Elvis shaved his sideburns (in the late 60s/70s) so that, when viewed in profile, the front line of his sideburns was parallel to his nose, and, in some photographs, the line of his forehead. The repetition of 3 parallel lines was dramatic and striking. In this particular photo, the back line of his hair, as it approaches his neck, also happens to be at the same angle.
