One seldom considered aspect of climate change: its not just that - TopicsExpress

One seldom considered aspect of climate change: its not just that the incredibly massive ice sheets covering Antarctica and Greenland are turning to water. The ice sheets gravitational pull on the surrounding ocean has kept some of the existing sea water away from the continents, in the process keeping sea levels lower than they would be otherwise. This is not good news for humanity. As the ice sheets melt due to global warming, not only do they raise the sea level directly; they also exert a weaker gravitational pull on the surrounding ocean. So water sloshes back toward the continents, where we all live. For our recent press release about how the latest IPCC report engages with the population issue (clue = poorly): populationmatters.org/2014/population-matters-news/ipcc-report-acknowledges-population-growth/
