One sisters experience in the womens section of the masjid. Such stories are far from rare. #masjidreform My local masjid used to be a church that was bought by the Muslim community. As you can imagine, it does not have properly divided mens and womens sections, but just one large room. So you would think that they would separate it into 2 rooms using curtains or something, right? Well... NO. The men kept the huge room all for themselves. And where do the women go? Into the walk-in closets. LITERALLY. CLOSETS. As in where the church members used to store their cleaning supplies and toys and extra chairs and such. And when there are too many women to fit, those who dont make it inside have to stay outside and pray and listen to the khutba. The men in charge are unwilling to listen to the needs of the women, and do something about it. So after a few days of praying in the soggy, muddy grass, sometimes in rain, most of the women simply stopped coming.
