One thing about attending the Writers of the Future event in L.A. (as a former winner) is that its an effective reminder to me about what my priorities ought to be. As a creative businessman. For the sake of craft, for the sake of the bottom line, and also for the sake of my soul. Sitting in the audience Sunday night I was realizing just how much of myself Id sold into a system which, while paying the bills, was also grinding me down emotionally and spiritually. Ergo, too much energy and time going towards things which werent repaying me in the right ways. One more big sign (from the universe) that 2014 needs to be a year of change. And growth. And reaching for new horizons.
