One time when Gene was in the Navy (Beach Jumpers) they had to have their shoes very shiney like patent leather. Gene got his the shiney by heating the shoe polish. Well one morning he was in a hurry and was heating shoe polish on our kitchen stove and drop the can of polish. it went all over the stove, up the wall, down the wall and all over the table with white cloth. he grab his shoes and uniform and got out of there fast. It took me all day to clean that shoe polish from every thing and throw the table cloth away. Needless to say he never used the stove to heat his shoe polish again.
