One year I volunteered to be a childrens guide with my church for camp. It was different, I had never participated with the kids church so I gave it a whirl of my time. The church was asking for volunteers plus I had the time on my hands. To put the icing on the cake my son was going which added to my encouragement. My age group was 9-10 years old. It was good for Dad and son time. As I expected, we had a ball of fun at camp. To see all that energy from the kids, exploding everywhere, gave me renewed energy and strength to follow through. One particular day there was some free time with no immediate plans so we struck out on a walk around the camp. It was a group of about 6-8 lads and myself. Along the way we spotted a cemetery that immediately gave me an opportunity to minister to the kids. After all we were in kids camp with the Church. Approaching the cemetery there was some concern as to why we were going to visit this cemetery. I had a epiphany that I thought would be a good teaching tool. I wanted the boys to observe the tombstones and figure the age of the person when they died. To my surprise the teaching tool worked. We saw tombstones of people ranging in age from birth to over 100 and everything in between. What struck them most was seeing the stones with people their own age. I told them that the grave does not discriminate no matter who you are nor how old you may be. You dont have to be old to die. You can die young. And it would behoove them to make the decision to serve God now not later because tomorrow may not offer the chance. Preparation, preparation, preparation yall--------Preparation.
