One year ago, right about this time, Nurwidya and I were re-checking the recruitment form for NUANSA’14. Several hours later, we were poring anxiously over the response to see who’ve signed up to be in the NUANSA’14 team. I was well aware that I was not such a haps girl in PINUS that people were going to sign up just because they saw my name as producer, but on hindsight, perhaps it was well they didn’t, because the people who signed up did so because they wanted to be in NUANSA first and foremost and that has turned out to be what made us...well, us. Then came the interviews. I still remember some of the unique interviewees, from Hans who spouted some music technical terms Wiwid and I acted as if we understood (altho we didn’t, really) and actually brought scores of half-composed music pieces, to some surprise applicants like Theodore (with whom we’ve talked to before when we made our rounds to the previous NUANSA heads to gain some insights about NUANSA, and who have repeatedly insisted he wouldn’t join again). Perhaps from the interviews Wiwid and I should have realized what kind of people would make NUANSA’14, but as it was, we were excited yes, but still clueless about how things would turn out in the end. In the first heads meeting, the one thing we kept going on about was how we would like the NUANSA’14 team to not just be a family in name or even in fun things, but to be a family because we sweat together (and perhaps cry together). Now, looking back, I can’t be more grateful with these people who have made dreams and words into deeds. Thank you my fellow cabuters Albert Odor Ivaniddo Laura Marvin Giovanni Nonie for the patience, perseverance, determination, and understanding. Thank you for standing up for your teams and yet understanding other departments’ concerns and needs.
