One year ago today, I opened my eyes to find myself hospitalized for severe depression related to my bipolar disorder. And thus began my journey last year to fight. The words that changed my life? You CANT fix this disease, but we will help you control it. You are not alone. Those words released me from the frustration, shame and fear of having tried several medications, doctors and procedures that didnt fix me. I decided, right then, to dig deep and let God take over and what a miracle this journey has been. Yesterday was difficult for me, emotionally, as I remembered that hopeless, dark place. As I was studying scriptures, I was given this scripture in Daniel. Fear not, Daniel. From the day you cried out and set your mind to gain understanding and humbled yourself before your God, your words were heard. Then I went to church and the praise team sang, It is Well. What a beautiful end to this year. I am able to give praise and sing, It is well with my soul. My prayer is that by sharing my journey this year, someone else has been encouraged. I encourage anyone who is struggling with bipolar disorder or depression to reach out. There is help and hope for you. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I am never too busy to listen. Much love, T
