One year ago today, (Oct 25, 2012), MakeSpace was registered with the Commonwealth of Virginia as a non-profit organization. The next day we held our very first event, the Eid al Adha prayer. Since that blessed day, together, we have come along way. We have been covered by local, national and international media, we have been recognized by CAIR winning the 2013 National Community Service Award, and we have been recognized by US State Department, Dept of Homeland Security as well as the White House. But most importantly of all, we have been able establish a platform where community members from all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities and ideologies can coalesce around the unifying values of TRIBE (look it up on our website). Please support us so we can continue to raise the level of discourse, address present and relevant issues facing all of us and strive to make American Muslims part of the solution that this great country is in need of. #HappyBirthdayMakeSpace
