In this case the plan would be to have the crop be the intact ecosystem where a revived and continually rewarding economic engine of Recreation, Eco tourism, Herbal medicine, Clean Water, Food crops, and Timber would be tended and maintained for generations to come. This is the vision forward for the future. This is the story with hope and justice. Where the whole health of the ecosystem is primary and supports every goal and aspiration of man to truly thrive. :i have copied a sample letter here, feel free to speak from your heart and use this as a temple: Hello dear representative of the people, Regarding the proposal to selectively manage the Pisgah and Nantahala ecosystems: the forests of this great region are still recovering from the logging of the past century. Much of this was hasty, money-driven, and over zealous. We know the mistakes of our predecessors, and we must not repeat them again. I will make this short and to the point. There are many qualified natural practitioners, ecosystem managers, and connected forestry-professionals in the private sector which must be consulted in the plans, action, and review of this proposal. I hereby volunteer myself, and have a series of colleagues to recommend who would be qualified and have important citizen input and decision to contribute to this. This is our request. We stand by it, and we will be there as an integral part of the process. The principals we will propose and stand by involve regionalizing the work, creating local jobs, and keeping the timber, wood products and money in the local bioregion. This means local contracts, with smaller companies, smaller machines, more jobs for more people over a longer period of time, more sensitivity to native and endemic species, and as a whole: both accessing the timber crop and leaving the forest intact. Central to this is a truly stringent code of selective logging, overlooked by a committee of concerned, local and qualified citizens, who do not have a direct financial stake in the process.
