Only a minority of kids from low income working families get care through the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program. We need to improve the program so that there is less churn, which hurts both kids and their parents. We also need to look at expanding the program so that it serves more low income parents. Child care costs can be crushing, averaging about $12,000 per year. So many parents need to make hard choices.
