Only now am I realising how good I had it in Cairns. For 5 months I woke up in the tropics, sometimes in a hammock outside my room if Id lost my key, mostly with nothing planned for the day. The days inevitably turned into days of drinking coffee and sometimes harder stuff, chatting with our little group and increasing the group size by meeting new people. Sometimes wed go for a hike in the rainforest, sometimes wed dick around in waterfalls, other times wed go to the beach, some days wed play in the pool. It was incredible. Today, I woke up and got excited because even though it was wet, at least we had blue skies. How times have changed. 4 months ago I didnt even have to look outside in the mornings. Before I left my room the sunscreen would be on! It was a given that it was a scorcher! Nice to be back though.
