Only three weeks to go ... Update - with only three more weeks to go before it opens to what will be a record public attendance for any custom bike show, anywhere, this years AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building now has 71 builders from 22 different countries slated to compete - with nearly 90 bikes entered already. Being staged for the first time at the internationally acclaimed INTERMOT expo at Cologne, Germany (September 30th to October 5th), the 11th annual AMD World Championship is attracting an outstanding standard of custom bikes, and reinforcing its reputation as the worlds premier custom motorcycle design and engineering showcase. The list of confirmed entries so far can be seen at amdchampionship/worldchamps-entries.php FIVE CLASSES There will be five classes at the AMD World Championship in 2014 - The now traditional and internationally respected FreeStyle class, from which the 11th annual AMD World Champion Custom Bike Builder will be chosen, plus four further classes to recognise specific design and engineering sectors of the custom motorcycle market ... Retro/Modified Class - to showcase customs based on engines manufactured before 1984; Modified Harley-Davidson Class - to feature stock frame geometry customs with engines (minimum stock cases) from 1984 and up; Street Performance Class - to - showcase custom design and engineering work where the primary objective is to improve the performance and handling of streetable customs; ALL NEW FOR 2014 Cafe Racer class - for the 50s/60s inspired road race bikes that laid down the foundation for what became the SuperBike revolution. One change from previous years is that no run testing will take place at the event itself, so video evidence of each bike being ridden must be submitted prior to arrival at the Cologne Exhibition Centre (Koelnmesse) on set-up day, Monday September 29th, for the bike to be eligible to win a prize. All competitors receive the AMD World Championship 2014 special edition Competitor Logo for use in all their own advertising, marketing, print, website, and social media activity, a free of charge studio-grade photo-shoot set of pictures of their bike, and permanent inclusion in the popular and influential online Championship archive.
