Oops...here come those pesky fact things again. According to a study of voter turnout in North Carolina, made in conjunction with the states voter ID law, which goes into full effect in 2016, voter turnout increased from 2010 to 2014, even with identification required at the polls. A federal government expert, in testimony against the voter ID law estimated that 209,959 Blacks and 710,567 Whites would be unduly burdened with having to get ID, which would lead to a drop of almost a million voters. Instead, the study from from the state midterm election in 2010 and 2014 showed an increase of almost 30% total, with an increase in Black voters of 29.5% and White voters of 13.7% So much for voter ID laws suppressing the minority vote.
