Open Government for the Rest of Us Award: $350,000 Organization: LISC Chicago Project Leads: Susana Vasquez, Dionne Baux, Demond Drummer, Elizabeth Rosas-Landa Open Gov for the Rest of Us aims to bring open government to, well, the rest of us. By connecting low-income neighborhoods to the Internet and giving them access to open government tools, community leaders should be able to use data and communication to advocate for what their neighborhoods need. “The problem with open government is it isn’t open, and people don’t trust their government,” project lead Susana Vasquez said in their Knight grant proposal. “We’re about to change all that by pushing government open and having it be led by neighborhood residents and engaged by neighborhood organizations.”>CONGRATULATIONS!!!
