Open Letter to Baby Boomers, Dear Boomers, we were there in 1960 when there was a lunch counter sit in in Greenboro NC. We were there in 1961 when the freedom riders challenged segeration. We were there in 1963 when JFK was killed, and when MLK gave his I have a dream speech. We were there in 1964 when the civil rights act passed. We were there in 1965 when the first US troops were sent to Vietnam. We were there in 1966 when mass drafts began that set off a string of nationwide protests. We were there in 1968 when MLK jr. was assignated, when the My Lai massacre happened in Vietnam, We were there when Robert Kennedy was killed, and the Tet offensive began. We were there in 1970 when the US invaded Cambodia. Were were there in 1970 when the Kent state massacre occured. We were there when this event angered and incited protests at schools across the country. We were there in 1972 when the Water Gate scandal started. We were there in 1973 when the US pulled out of Vietnam. And we were there in 1974 when Nixon finally resigned. And through all this, we swore things would be better when our generation ran the country! Well guess what? Our generation is running the country NOW! And I for ONE am NOT proud of what we are doing.
