Penny Wars....the Final Countdown Its upon us. Tomorrow is the final day for this action packed week of fund raising frenzy-ness. The scores are in for todays trip to the Penny Wars jungle, and as we prepare to share the goodness with you, we first want to thank each and every one of you who have scoured the planet far and wide for the existence of pennies. Judging by the amount of pennies weve seen, youve also resorted to scouring other planets and solar systems as well. Its been great. Difficult to transport to Mountain America for sorting, but GREAT! We have seen some awesome team spirit taking place each day. Students AND teachers watch the score board closely, and tomorrow will be the day when carefully planned strategies will be revealed. Students have every eye ball on that score board as scores are updated daily. They even heckle the person posting the scores when they see something they dont particularly like. Its all in good fun, and that team focused, good fun is just another example of why Valley Academy is the great place it is for our kiddos. So far, we have raised a total of $546.47 to use towards Teacher Appreciation Week and supplies for our hard working teachers. Way to go everyone! This is impressive considering that this time last year, we raised $459.47. To coin a phrase from the 80s tv show The Jeffersons, were moving on up! Weve seen some interesting trends on the score board. 4th grade was the only grade to stay in the positive all week..before now. 5th and 6th seemed to be permanently parked in 4th and 5th place...until yesterday. 6th, 7th and 8th grades must be really plotting something big. Their totals have been a bit on the less than dedicated side of the scale, but rumors are flying around that tomorrow is their huge and final comeback. We look forward to seeing great things from our bungalow dwellers tomorrow. For todays scores though, we will not hold you in suspense any longer. Hold on to your hat because here we go!!! In first place, we find Mrs. Billings and Mrs. Friebergs fourth graders holding tight to that first place title. Can they hold on tight enough for 24 more hours?????? They have -860 points, but they are still in the lead. Second place is where Mrs. White and Mr. Hasenwinkel can be found. These guys have a plan hatching tomorrow, and it promises to be nothing less that legendary. They finished off today with -1171 points. As we look at the third place slot, we see Mr. Z, Mrs. Merrell and Mrs. Metzger getting ready to do something amazing that will pull them out of third place with their -1210 points and into first place for that coveted first place notoriety. Who wants to be the champions? Our fourth place residents might like to take their -1212 points, buy a race car, jump into the fast lane, and zoom past the competition. How does that sound Mr. Deuel and Miss Isom? And who do we find BACK in 5th place? Ms. Jacobs, and Mrs. Gatlins sixth graders???? Is this a comfortable place for you? This is day 3 of hanging out in this spot. Its time to do something crazy and amp up those -1261 points. Lets see something truly outstanding! On to 6th place...another grade that has set up residency in this slot. Mrs. Simmons, Mrs. Young and Mrs. Brown took their first graders to second place yesterday, but they are once again back in sixth place with a score of -1407 points. Come on guys! You can do it! Looking on to 7th place, we find the cutest class in the school. Our kindergarten minis have been booted back to 7th place once again. They rise, they fall. Will they rise again? Ms. Karen-jane, Ms. MaryAnn and Miss Emily have given some great counting lessons as well as lessons about the difference in currency. Lets see what happens tomorrow for Kindergarten. Now...Mrs. Wiser and Mr Varga? Are you out there in bungalow land? Are your students alive and well? Do we need to call in some doctors to check some pulses? You guys have a score today of -1937 and you seem to be permanently residing towards the end of the scale in 8th place. Lets see some action from you guys. Please prove to us that youre alive and well. And rock bottom, at the end of the line, on the end of the rope, and about to teeter off into never-never land, we find Mr. Spencer and Mrs. Daviss third graders. The plot thickens as these guys sleep in their cozy beds tonight dreaming of their Penny Wars victory come back tomorrow. They end today with the prickly score of -2157. So there you have it everyone. Penny Wars events for the day. This (and every) score board has been brought to you by the PTO. This is the Final Countdown. Emotions will soar and excitement will burst through the doors of our school as we open up the games at 8:00 am in the multi-purpose room. The collection buckets will remain there all day, and will be removed promptly at noon. At 12:01pm, no more deposits will be accepted. This leaved you FOUR HOURS to make your play. Well see you there! Sleep well tonight so you can play hard tomorrow. Penny Wars is about to launch into overdrive! Unleash the hounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
