Operational deception is a staple of human behaviour. The art of fooling an adversary or an ally into behaving in a manner which most benefits yourself is older than language and society. It has been used by hunters, diplomats, businessmen, socialists, soldiers, statesmen, teenagers - everybody knows deception and has benefited from it at least once. Deception itself relies on controlling the perceptions of another person, and manipulating your own expression to mislead interpretation. Deception can be scaled from an individual to an entire nation. As a weapon it is without rival, as strategic victory can be gained from simple acts of deception. To fully comprehend the use of deception as a weapon we must examine perception, communication, and behaviour. The element of perception involves the alteration of evidence to create an illusion of truth. Verisimillitude, or believability, is crucial - hence why the best lies have truth to them. If the shape of the illusion matches the shape of reality than the illusion is more believable and can be implemented on a shorter timescale. If it cannot be easily overlaid then the illusion will require a longer period of time to become believable. Little details are essential as even small scraps of evidence can reveal the presence and nature of illusion. Evidence can be conceptual, logical, or material. Communication, the transport of concepts from one individual to another, is also vitally important to understand. Communication spans far beyond mere memes and words. Posture and body language, imagery, facial expression, logical or conceptual implications, unspoken truths and doubts, all contribute to the shaping of perception. The behaviour of the intended subject(s) of deception is the final element. Battery on phone low - to be continued at computer-get notifications if you wish to follow this bullshit
