Opportunity for Selwyn community organisations and groups BNZ ‘Closed for Good’ – 4 September 2013 In November 2009 Bank of New Zealand ran its first ‘Closed for Good’ day. The project was so successful it was repeated in March 2010, again in May 2012 and I am pleased to let you know BNZ will be ‘Closed for Good’ again on Wednesday 4 September 2013. This means that BNZ stores, Partners Centres and offices will be closed for one day to allow staff to work on community projects. We will be open for business as usual on Thursday 5 September 2013. September 4 is a significant date for Canterbury, and we see this year’s ‘Closed for Good’ as a great opportunity for over 400 of our local staff to assist with whatever needs doing to create a stronger Christchurch. BNZ is calling for submissions from community groups for projects that need doing in your local community. Last year ‘Closed for Good’ saw more than 3,000 BNZers working all around New Zealand on 488 projects such as building walk ways, assisting with strategic planning, providing marketing, IT and HR support and training, painting schools and youth centres and helping at kindergartens and play centres. This year we are keen to focus on projects where we can help community groups to ‘be good with money’, either by using our time to free up theirs or directly assisting in providing financial literacy support and education. Community groups can submit their project online at closedforgood.org by 26 July 2013. Applicants do not have to be BNZ customers to apply – the key criterion is that the project benefits the community. If you know of community groups that could use an extra hand, please let them know about ‘Closed for Good’. The BNZ contact centre will still be available to assist customers with banking needs on the day. Regular settlements and payments systems will continue, along with ATMs and Internet Banking operating as usual. We are using a range of communications to inform all our customers about Closed for Good and its impact on them.
