Opportunity often falls into your hands when you least expect it. My wife Mary caught this picture of a beautiful blue heron while walking the Tualatin National Wild Life Refuge near our home. This big guy was no more than 20 feet away from the park path when Mary took the picture with her little point & shoot camera but was so well camouflaged, that many people simply walked by and did not see him. I pulled the original photo in to Photoshop Elements and rescaled the image to better fill the 9x12 Centurion linen panel then cut out the out line of the bird and his reflection in the water and typed it to the panel as a sort of “mask” while I added the background. The picture is in its very ugly block in stage and it will take a bit of time before I can actually work on the bird.
