Oprah fans tend to be unable to differentiate criticism of Oprahs show or behavior, from criticism of her. So, lets celebrate with her our common humanity - she is a very decent human being. Her show, may have wonderful moments, granted. But, that doesnt mean its free from critical assessment does it? After all, she dedicated a few shows to how quickly homeless people would lose a big sum of money if they found it. That is a way of blaming victims. They are ignorant, its a pity that they are homeless, but they made bad choices, didnt listen in school or to wise counsel. So, we wash our hands, walk away. NOTICE, though, that passive TELEVISION ZOMBIES NEVER ever, ever question why she did NOT dedicated equal time to showing the trials of people like Donald Trump, stripped of his wealth & related resources, trying to make it if he were suddenly homeless - and lets make it even more interesting: why not make him survive on the streets of someplace like Kingston Jamaica? We could look on with smug righteousness at his vain struggles - and without saying a word - we could tacitly take away that he deserved to be punked and whatever misfortunes he encountered were all his fault for being privileged, insular, ignore-ant, and arrogant. Somehow, I surmise, such a program will only have a place in my parody sketches never completed ... and they dont have to. The wealth that controls mass media tends to refrain from saying anything that isnt in their own class or self interest. Have a nice day! =D
