Optimism is like a form of Kung fu. We have to retrain our minds - TopicsExpress

Optimism is like a form of Kung fu. We have to retrain our minds to respond to the tendency of negativity, to see more possibility in circumstances. Like the Kungfu student learns to see opportunity in his opponents attacks, so does the optimist view states of emotional negativity as an opportunity to redirect it for something useful. The Kung fu student might apply this principle this with a shift in footwork, The optimist applies this with a shift in outlook. Both remain effective, when they adapt to the OPENINGS. Realism accepts the fact that the attack is there. Negativity sees only the attack coming. Positivity sees the attack and its the counter. Optimism neautralizes the threat by redirecting the energy to avoid harm. It is said to fight without fighting is the highest teaching of the martial arts. Enough for now.
