Optimus should never have returned after this in the G1 series. But he did. :( As humans found him before the ship explosion. Yes in those few seconds in a retcon way. lol It proved a lot of things. 1. Since there machines, they never really die. (At least until you destroy every circuit that matters.) Though now they can download and upload there conscious so can they ever die? (The concept did not exist then in society.) 2. The Autos and Deceps can be reprogrammed. Are they ever really free? Or just following programming on some level? Though Optimus broke the programming in the end. It proves mix a few wires and you can for the most part control them. 3. As robots I question can they ever truly be alive? I side with No. Being alive is a physical thing of flesh and matter. Robots on some fundamental level are just acting out programming they might not even be aware of. And just like they were never born in a conventional sense. They cannot die either. But thats my view on it. ;)
