Or ever the silver cord is loosed, or the golden bowl is broken, - TopicsExpress

Or ever the silver cord is loosed, or the golden bowl is broken, or the pitcher is broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern; then shall the dust return to the earth as it was, and the spirit shall return unto God, who gave it. Ecc. 12:6-7 Death happens and many metaphors have arisen that refer to this fact. The dust of the mortal body returns to the earth when one dies. It is just as true that the spirit is released by death, to return to God who put it into the body. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: fear God and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgement, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Ecc. 12:13-14 Mortal bodies return to dust, immortal spirits return to God for judgment, and so it remains. The ancient writer of the biblical book of Ecclesiastes understood these things and this understanding fashioned his life, his deeds, his works. Every person today must reach the same understanding.
