Orana Rabbit Fanciers vetting in procedure; Rabbits are vetted in to help reduce the risk of spreading infectious disease and to exclude exhibits considered unfit for competition.. Rabbits vetted out are handled with confidentiality as the club understands that things may be missed and at no time makes any accusations of negligence. All vetted out rabbits must be removed from the venue to prevent the risk of transferring possible contagious diseases/infections onto healthy rabbits. If your rabbit is displaying any of the following, please respect the club and other exhibitors and quietly remove the animal in question away from all other exhibits. Severe runny or weepy eyes – excludes minor irritations occurring from hair in long haired varieties such as Angoras Discharge from nose Matting up front legs indicating nasal discharge Build up of wax in ears Obvious signs of fur/hay mite Evidence of flea infestation or presence of fleas Inflamed or infected sores on any region of the body General presence of sores or symptoms indicating vent disease Signs of Myxomatosis or Calici Virus Lack of general condition i.e.; ‘Bag of Bones’, appearing lethargic and genuinely lifeless Any lumps/scabs on any part of the body Diarrhea or mucous present Malocclusion. We encourage the use of disposable pads/mats for all exhibits to help reduce the risk of any possible transmission of infectious diseases or infections that may have been missed in vetting in. Vetting in is an aid to help prevent issues and should not be taken as a health check normally performed by a veterinarian. We do our best to ensure all exhibitors have a safe and happy day and it is not the club’s intention to offend any member who may have a rabbit vetted out. Please bear in mind that the vetting officer has the interests of all exhibitors and their stock as their priority. If the vetting officer excludes an exhibit the decision is binding. -We thank you for your understanding and co-operation Orana Rabbit Fanciers
